Spreading the loveStimulating the spread “People will only pass your content onto others if the benefit of doing so outweighs the effort of sending it.” – Seth Godin, Unleashing the idea virus It’s crucial to build mechanisms into your content that allow people to pass it onto others as easily as possible. We build tools into our content such as easy send-to-a-friend forms which encourage users to pass the content onto others at the click of a button, and high-score lists for games which allow people to challenge their friends. As we know that our content won’t just be staying on one site, we make sure we write these tools dynamically so that they will work from anywhere in the world. We work with clients to develop custom content that is designed to be spread between several friends. We’ve recently built a viral that allows users to create their own levels and then challenge a friend to complete them. By considering how the viral will be spread, and what will encourage people to do so during the design process ensures that mechanisms such as these will be become a central part of the content, resulting in many more users passing the message onto many more friends, causing exponential growth in people using the viral.
